The Autonomous Object: What should we (not) tell museum visitors?

In response to pressures actual and imagined, museums are now in a frenzy reconsidering how to present their collections to the public. This lecture will reflect on the nature of this problem and its practical and philosophical history –– in particular how we do, and do not, respect the plight of our public.
