After graduation, our students go on to distinguished programs in art history, archaeology and visual culture. Some go on to positions in galleries, museums and foundations, while others go on to professional school in law or medicine. In recent years many have decided to take several years in service, such as in the Teach for America program, AmeriCorps, Peace Corps, and others. They are a talented and diverse group.
Internship Opportunities
Students may pursue up to six hours of internship credit working in the arts community. These internship credits are credit/no credit. They do not count toward the major or minor, but they do count toward overall graduation credit requirements. Academic credit for internships is arranged through the Career Center and is awarded at the 200-level.
Rules and regulations regarding internships are managed by the Career Center, including how to file for academic credit, internship guidelines, and the Internship Agreement Form.
Kemper Art Museum
Students wishing to participate in the Kemper Museum Teaching in the Galleries Program may apply to receive one internship credit for this semester-long program.

Museum Internships
There are also opportunities to receive both paid and unpaid internships at museums and galleries in Saint Louis and beyond. For example, the Saint Louis Art Museum offers positions in their Curatorial, Registrarial, and Education departments. These jobs often revolve around a special exhibition, but can also involve working with an institution's permanent collection. Recently, students have interned at Sotheby's Auction House, the Saint Louis Toy Museum, the Cloisters at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York, and the Smithsonian Archives.
